ROLLING HILLS ASYLUM
RULES & REQUIREMENTS
Please read all rules before purchasing tickets. By purchasing a ticket, completing registration, and entering the property, you agree to comply with all Rolling Hills Asylum rules and staff instructions.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in refusal of entry or removal from the property without refund.
TICKETS, ARRIVAL & CHECK-IN
- All ticket sales are final. No refunds, credits, transfers, rescheduling, or date/time changes.
- Tickets are valid only for the specific event, date, and time purchased.
- Unless otherwise stated for a specific event, the parking lot opens 30 minutes before the scheduled event start time, and check-in begins promptly 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.
- Events begin promptly. No late check-in or late entry. No exceptions. Please plan your travel accordingly.
- Bring your ticket/order confirmation and required photo ID.
- No limousines, chauffeured vehicles, party buses, or RVs.
- Management reserves the right to refuse entry or remove anyone from the property for failure to comply with rules, safety requirements, or staff instructions.
AGE & IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Guests 18 and older must present valid government-issued photo ID.
- Guests ages 14–17 must present acceptable photo ID and attend with their own parent.
- If a guest ages 14–17 will attend with anyone other than their own parent—including a legal guardian, relative, family friend, or other accompanying adult—advance written authorization from the minor's parent and approval from Rolling Hills Asylum are required.
- The authorization process should be initiated no less than five (5) days before the scheduled event. Authorization is not automatic or guaranteed.
- Do not purchase a ticket for a minor requiring advance authorization until approval has been received. Purchasing a ticket does not constitute or guarantee approval.
- Requests received fewer than five (5) days before an event may not be able to be accommodated.
- The authorization process requires direct communication with the minor's parent and may require additional documentation.
- All guests ages 14–17 must remain with their parent or their specifically pre-authorized accompanying adult while on the property.
- Acceptable teen photo ID includes a driver's license, government-issued ID, passport, military ID, or current school-issued photo ID containing sufficient identifying information. A birth certificate alone is not acceptable photo identification.
REGISTRATION
- Every attendee must complete their own registration form using their own information.
- Registration information must accurately identify the attendee and match the identification presented at check-in.
- Incomplete, inaccurate, or improperly submitted registration may delay or prevent admission.
- Completing registration does not override age requirements, ticket requirements, event restrictions, or any other Rolling Hills Asylum policy.
ALCOHOL, DRUGS & IMPAIRMENT — ZERO TOLERANCE
- Guests may not enter or remain on Rolling Hills Asylum property while under the influence of alcohol, cannabis/marijuana, drugs, medications, or any other substance that may impair their ability to participate safely.
- Rolling Hills Asylum reserves the right to refuse admission or require a guest to leave when management or security reasonably observes signs of alcohol or drug use or impairment, including the odor of alcohol or cannabis on a guest or their belongings.
- A guest does not need to appear visibly intoxicated for admission to be refused.
- This policy applies regardless of whether a substance is legal, prescribed, medically authorized, or otherwise lawfully used.
- Members of the same arriving party or vehicle may also be required to leave when circumstances warrant.
- No refunds or credits will be issued.
- Security may be present, and bags are subject to search upon entry and exit.
CONDUCT
- Be respectful of staff, other guests, the property, and neighboring properties.
- No yelling, screaming, running, horseplay, slamming doors or windows, disruptive behavior, or negative provoking.
- During public investigations, do not monopolize rooms or hallways, obstruct passageways with equipment, or interfere with another guest's investigation.
- Follow all instructions from Rolling Hills Asylum staff and guides.
SAFETY, ACCESSIBILITY & CLOTHING
- Appropriate clothing is required. Guests must wear clothing suitable for the event and for safely navigating a historic property. Rolling Hills Asylum reserves the right to refuse entry when clothing or footwear is inappropriate or unsafe for the property or event.
- Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes are required. Sneakers or boots are strongly recommended. No sandals, flip-flops, open-toed shoes, high heels, or bare feet.
- Rolling Hills Asylum is a large historic building with multiple wings, numerous stairwells, and repeated flights of stairs throughout the property. Guests should expect extensive walking and frequent stair climbing during their visit.
- Low-light conditions, uneven floors and surfaces, ramps, thresholds, and other conditions typical of a historic property may be encountered.
- The facility does not provide modern conveniences such as air conditioning, heat, or indoor plumbing.
- Portable restroom facilities are provided outdoors. Large bottles of hand sanitizer are provided inside the portable restrooms and at locations throughout the building.
- Guests should realistically assess their ability to walk for extended periods and repeatedly climb and descend multiple flights of stairs before purchasing tickets.
- Guests who may require assistance should contact Rolling Hills Asylum in advance whenever possible so available accommodations or assistance can be discussed.
- Paranormal or spirit activity is never guaranteed. Events are offered for entertainment purposes.
BAGS
- Only clear bags up to 12" × 6" × 12", one-gallon clear freezer bags, and small clutches up to 4.5" × 6.5" are permitted, except legitimate stocked camera/equipment cases where permitted for the event.

- Bags and equipment cases may be subject to inspection upon entry and exit.
FOOD & BEVERAGES
- No outside food or beverages are permitted.
- Pre-packaged snacks, soft drinks, and bottled water are available for purchase on site.
- Food and beverages must remain in designated areas.
SMOKING, VAPING & TOBACCO
- No smoking or vaping anywhere on Rolling Hills Asylum property.
- Chewing tobacco, smokeless tobacco, nicotine pouches, and similar products may not be used inside the building.
- Spitting or the use of spit cups, bottles, or similar containers is prohibited.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
- No open flames or burning of any kind, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, candles, incense, sage, smudge sticks, or similar materials.
- No weapons or defensive weapons of any kind, including firearms, knives, stun guns, pepper spray, or mace.
- No tools, including hand tools, power tools, drills, saws, screwdrivers, multi-tools, or similar equipment.
- No drones anywhere on the property.
EQUIPMENT & FLASHLIGHTS
Public Events
- A handheld flashlight is required. See the flashlight recommendation image for examples of appropriate flashlight size and brightness.
- Tripods, walkie-talkies/two-way radios, headlamps, oversized or excessively bright lighting, and other equipment that may interfere with other guests are not permitted.
- Lithium-battery-powered laser grid devices are not permitted.
- Standard laser grid devices powered by AAA batteries are permitted, provided they are used safely and are never directed at another person or through windows.
- Equipment must not create excessive heat, present a fire or safety hazard, obstruct hallways or stairways, damage the property, or interfere with another guest's experience.
Private Events
Equipment allowances may differ. Contact Rolling Hills Asylum management in advance regarding equipment you wish to bring or use.
RESPECT FOR THE PROPERTY & PARANORMAL PRACTICES
- Do not remove, move, damage, alter, cut, attach, affix, or take anything from the building or property.
- Do not enter restricted areas, force doors open, access roofs, or disregard posted signs, barriers, or staff instructions.
- Do not leave food, candy, flowers, cigarettes, or other objects as offerings for spirits.
- Ouija boards, séances, exorcisms, spirit crossings, blessings, cleansings, clearings, bindings, black magic, table-tipping, and other rituals are prohibited.
- Sage, incense, holy water, cedar, palo santo, oils, candles, smudge sticks, and similar materials are prohibited.
- Never intentionally damage, alter, remove, stage, or manipulate anything in an attempt to create paranormal evidence.
