Visitors with breathing and health issues may find Rolling Hills Asylum taxing as there are many stairs cases to climb and long hallways to stroll through. The building does NOT provide conveniences such as air conditioning, heat, or indoor plumbing (we do provide very clean porta johns).  Everyone is welcome to visit RHA!  If you can walk unassisted for a mile, including up and down stairs, you should be fine.  If  this seems too daunting for you or you feel you may have challenges navigating the stairs, walking long distances, hearing, or seeing in low light, we encourage you to have someone come with you or - if you are going to be solo, please contact RHA ahead of time (a few days to a week would be appreciated) so we may schedule a guide to assist you on the tour or hunt, as courtesy, so you may fully enjoy the history and beauty of the buildings!

Spirit activity/interaction is never guaranteed. Event is for entertainment purposes only.

ALCOHOL/DRUGS
If you are suspected of being under the influence of
ANY substance you will NOT be allowed in the building
or to complete the tour/hunt AND you will be required to leave immediately and/or be escorted off the premises,

For your own safety and to preserve the integrity of the investigation we do NOT allow anyone on a tour or hunt if you have open toed shoes, flip flops or sandals of any kind.

There are many flights of stairs, ramps, etc., and the above types
of footwear are not conducive to sure footing.

It is a good rule of thumb, you should be able to walk up and down many flights of stairs, and/or the equivalent of mile unattended - as the building is approximately 60,000 square feet and includes multiple floors and staircases.

In addition, they tend to create noise which may lead investigators to misinterpret human footsteps as paranormal.

You will be in the building with others who have spent the same amount for their ticket as you have and have often traveled just as far or not father than you.  Be considerate of other guests. If on a public hunt - do not monopolize a room or hallway - meaning do not spread equipment out so others can not get through to investigate; keep equipment and speaker volumes to a minimum.  Sometimes it is better to consider booking a private hunt so you are not interfering with other guests and they are not interfering with you.
  3. 27. All Hunts - Arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour/hunt and no later than 15 minutes prior. CHECK EACH SPECIFIC DATE FOR SPECIFIC HOURS.
  28. NO LATE ENTRY. If you were to arrive late - your tardiness would require the tour guides to withhold the start of the tour until your arrival, which is unfair to the attendees who arrived promptly. NO LATE ENTRY. NO RESCHEDULING. NO REFUNDS.
  29. We do not allow video or audio taping or live streaming of check in/check out, orientation, guided tour, tour guides, RHA staff, owner or owner's representatives.  No Exceptions.

What To Do

  • Be courteous to fellow investigators
  • Be respectful of your surroundings
  • Be friendly and helpful to those around you - i.e. if someone is having difficulty or is unsure about a piece of equipment, etc. offer assistance.
  • Make certain your cell phone is OFF or on Airplane mode only - so as not to interfere with KII Meters and other equipment.
  • Listen to your RHA Guide. If they put restrictions on areas to investigate, ask you to keep up with the group, not to wander during the tour, etc. its usually because they have your safety and best interest in mind and want to expedite the tour in order to get you out on your own as quickly as possible.
  • Bring Cash for beverages, snacks, t-shirts and other items. Beverages and snacks are $2 to $4.
  • Keep food & beverages in designated area only.

What Not To Bring or Do

  • No Drinking of alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hrs prior to or during an investigation.
  • Do not come under the influence of Drugs
  • Never investigate alone  a) for safety sake - if someone were to fall, get sick, have a walk through or some unpleasant paranormal encounter, etc., there’s a buddy to help out  and b) if something extraordinary happens - there is someone to corroborate and support the incident.
  • Don't be grumpy or have a bad attitude.
  • Don't wander away from your group
  • Don't shout or make loud noises - as others may be conducting EVP sessions.
  • Never remove anything from a location that doesn't belong to you
  • Do not cut, adhere, affix, or damage the property in anyway
  • No Littering - use appropriate trash receptacles
  • No slamming of doors, running, or shouting
  • Do not force open any doors or go into restricted areas
  • Do not bring any tool, electric or otherwise

Final Words:

We are thrilled by all the interest in Rolling Hills Asylum and truly LOVE meeting the people who come to investigate or even just visit out of curiosity. However, please keep in mind this is private property and is owner occupied!

So please, be respectful and refrain from wandering about the property at whim. If you are driving by, feel free to take pictures from the front steps of the infirmary but please do not stroll about the property like it is a public park. Our dogs wander the property freely and you risk getting bit or worst. They are secured during hunts and tours but the rest of the time they are free to enjoy their land and property.

RHA is NOT public property it is private property and privately owned. We open it up to the public on select dates for people to enjoy and learn about the history and the spirits here. Be respectful. After all, we'd never pull up to your house, get out of the car, and begin strolling around your property, back, yard, barns or garages. It just isn't appropriate and it's trespassing. Using this analogy- if you were to advertise that you are having a yard sale on xyz dates and times, but strangers decided to show up on non-advertised dates & times and wander about your property, you'd feel violated. Same here.

Respecting the privacy of  neighboring homes, farms, and land, as well as the adjacent Genesee County Park is expected. None are affiliated with Rolling Hills Asylum.

Always check any locations website for details, rules and regulations - that way you will avoid problems with owners, authorities or the police.
